Interesting. Keep in mind that we do not synchronize directly with  
iCal - instead, iCal sends its changes to the sync engine, which is  
from where we pull changes. It may be that iCal did not finish its  
synchronization (or something went wrong) when you went to sync. The  
restart likely cleaned up that problem.
