William,
I'd like to see your sync log. It sounds suspiciously like you are
running out of memory while processing your iCal changes. We retrieve
these changes individually from the synchronization engine, which
loads them all up - which can consume a vast amount of memory.
How much RAM do you have? Do you have a lot of events in iCal?
Despite having just the one calendar selected in our preferences, we
still have to filter *all* events that come from the sync engine.
In another email, I'm going to send you an AppleScript that will
allow you to delete old iCal events and todos - clearing up your
calendars will most definitely help you get through this problem.
