From mbryan at magma.ca Sat Mar 11 13:11:20 2006 From: mbryan at magma.ca (Michael Bryan) Date: Sat Mar 11 13:11:25 2006 Subject: [Mail-PalmOS-Talk] M/S Mail 2.0.3. can't communicate with POP 3 ISP Server Message-ID: <2A79BA2C-BFA9-468E-BFB2-7AA13F04E9A8@magma.ca> I wasted $29 last week on a brand new copy of Mark/Space Mail 2.03 because I have been unable to get it to talk to my Mail Server via a shared internet connection with a desktop computer. I installed it on my Palm Tungsten 'E' running Palm OS 5.2.1. I set up my email accounts carefully and then connected via USB to my Imac G5 (running Apple OS 10.4.5), so I could share my DSL internet connection with the Tungsten Palm and Mark/Space Mail. When I tell Mark/Space Mail to go and get my mail, its progress message indicates it is "connecting"........and then......"Established." So some kind of communication is happening. It tries both email accounts and then reports identical error messages as follows: "POP3 Server - Error 0000 - Communication Error! (0x0000). According to my ISP, nothing from the Tungsten E reaches the mail server. Palm Pilot's Communications and Network settings are: 1) to connect to the Mac via USB cable with 2) speed of 57,600 and flow control set to "auto" . 3) Idle time-out is set to - 'Never' and "Query DNS" is selected. The standard port numbers of 110 and 25 for servers are input into the account setup on the Palm. Before I ask for a refund from Mark/Space, can anyone point me to a troubleshooting article or setting adjustment I could try. Are you using Missing Sync for Palm OS? If so, what version? If not, you will need some software on your Mac to share the connection; just hooking up your Palm to the Mac won't shared your Internet connection over USB. -- Scott Gruby Lead Engineer Mark/Space, Inc.
