Are there any files in the list?
It is possible to get the paperclip icon to appear even if there are no
files if the message is multipart/MIME but doesn't have any files attached.
The icon goes away the first time the message is opened/parsed.

I have a Treo 600 myself, I clicked the paperclip on a message with
attachments, and I got the save button, and successfully used it to save a
JPG to the SD card in the Treo.
So see if the save list had any files listed in it...
Also make sure your SD card is showing up in the launcher - can you do a
"Get Info" on it for example? If the Treo can't see the card, neither can
M/S Mail.
