Please visit: to download a copy. This is a beta release and has not been fully tested. Users may want to try this version if they have had problems in the past or would like to take advantage of some of the enhancements. (We considered the enhancements enough to increment to 1.1. This is a free upgrade to current users.) ******** IMPORTANT - READ THESE NOTES ********** Notes when upgrading to this version: 1. All messages will revert to the default text color even if the color has been changed. 2. Filter colors should be checked as they have been reset to the default. 3. Since the application was renamed, you must run the updater program first otherwise you will have 2 copies of the application installed and you will not be able to tell which one to run. 4. The first time this version starts up, the database format will automatically change. Going back to an older version will result in an unusable mail database. Version 1.1b3 (5/27/03) - New: Added support for left/right of 5 way navigation button in message view - New: Added ability to turn off FontBucket (only works if FB is installed) - New: Added 5 way navigation support to list view (if message is highlighted, left unselects message) - New: Added resizable columns (in one line display mode) - New: Added ability to sort by tapping column headers (tap twice to reverse sort order) - New: Added column labels - New: Added support for hiding virtual silkscreen on CLIE devices (NX/NR/NZ) - New: Added ledger style coloring - New: Added progress bar within each message - New: Now uses attention manager settings (vibrate, alert, sound) for periodic mail check (on devices that support it) - New: High density icons - New: High density welcome screen - New: Text color in messages now uses default color theme - New: Filters now can leave the text color alone - New: Added default color option when changing colors - Fixed: If an error occurs during the initial part of the connection, it no longer tries to reconnect - Fixed: If checking multiple accounts and you cancel out of one, it no longer tries to check the other accounts (also happens if sending to multiple accounts). - Fixed: If in message view and you keep hitting delete (and are in the inbox category), it no longer jumps around - Fixed: Added Grafitti shift indicator to reg screen - Fixed: Issue on Tungsten T where sometimes the checking/sending mail dialog wouldn't go away. - Fixed: Issue on Tungsten T where it could crash after disconnecting - Fixed: Redraw issue when changing fonts in list view with item selected - Fixed: No longer displays error if cancelling out of connection - Fixed: Graffiti shift indicator locations - Fixed: Transparency on high density about logo - Fixed: Welcome screen on large displays - Fixed: Filter not remembering account - Fixed: If periodic check is reset on a day that it isn't supposed to check, it still checked on that day - Fixed: Redraw flicker when showing list view - Fixed: Unnecessary erasing when updating list view - Fixed: Issue where main column was a few pixels too wide in list view - Fixed: Edit filter issue where tapping on Any Header could display garbage character at end - Fixed: Removed extra redraw when returning to list view and current record didn't match read/unread - Fixed: Memory usage not calculating correctly when doing read/unread - Fixed: If a filter was set to change the account and user choose to retrieve or delete item from server, it wouldn't work. - Fixed: When adding accounts, internal unique ID is now set to next available ID so IDs are not wasted. - Fixed: No longer sets the account ID to -1 when filtering if user didn't want it filtered - Fixed: Internal issue where initializing the app info block overwrote the block by 2 bytes - Fixed: When checking mail, if a message was selected, it is no longer selected so that the list doesn't unnecessarily scroll. - Changed: If you delete all the messages in a category, you are returned to the list view - Changed: Optimizations to speed up dealing with read/unread messages - Changed: Removed message count in list - Changed: Version is now 1.1. - Changed: Renamed database as MarkSpace Mail, removing the /. - Changed: Mail database version is now stored using DmSetDatabaseInfo -- Scott Gruby Please contact support@markspace.com for assistance with Mark/Space products. Seems to have fixed all of my issues with the last beta. Well, actually the beta before last, since the last one was going Fatal at startup. One thing I have noticed is that an error during Send/Receive seems to disable auto disconnect. I found this out when I went to make a call after an error and the Digital Link said a data call was in progress. The little blinking pipe character at the top right is difficult to see, especially if the edge of a screen protector happens to fall over or near it. >We really need people to report the issues; while we may not be able to >fix them as soon as you'd like, we definitely can't fix them if they're >not reported. Sending just cooks along now, seems to get along great with my authenticated SMTP server. Love the dual progress bars, and I've always liked the Subject display during Rcv. Still a problem with reading the last two messages in a mailbox, sorry to say. Detailed bug report is on the way. This is standard Palm behavior. Do >you see this in the memopad? I was referring to the fact that the indication of a network connection (which is a very small blinking vertical bar at the extreme top right of the screen, and is visible in all applications) is difficult to see. Therefore, while the failure to respect the "disconnect after send/receive" setting after a send/receive error bug may have been present for a long time, it is quite possible that I just never noticed it before. Since I have the Sprint Digital Link, there is the Phone application, which reports a Data Call in progress if it detects one when it is started. Unlike the blinking character, this is a "can't miss" dialog in the middle of the screen that let me know I was still connected. :) I just checked, and yes, as expected, I see it in Memopad (while actually in a memo though, it is only a single blinking pixel, top right of the dashed box around category). Is this what you are asking? Seems to have fixed all of my issues with the last beta. Well, actually the beta before last, since the last one was going Fatal at startup. One thing I have noticed is that an error during Send/Receive seems to disable auto disconnect. Version 1.1b4 (6/8/03) - New: Added ledger style coloring to address lookups and insert items - Fixed: URL reference for stevenscreek.com - Fixed: No longer sorts by date by tapping on the left side of the labels when date is not showing - Fixed: Line no longer chops off checkboxes in insert and lookup views when using small font - Fixed: If using a custom color, when changing colors from message view, now shows Custom instead of default - Fixed: When using popup list in list view, color and file now show current info. - Fixed: Crash when doing lookup - Fixed: Crash at startup when the mail database didn't have an AppInfoBlock - Changed: In address lookup, now draws a gray line - Changed: When recents are saved, each recipient is now individually saved instead of the entire field. - Changed: SMTP progress now shows number of messages and progress in current message - Changed: Auto complete of addresses now works on the addresses after commas and not just at the beginning of the field -- Scott Gruby Please contact support@markspace.com for assistance with Mark/Space products. Would have timed out after 3 min anyway, but you know when you are a cheapskate and have a 300 min plan, every minute counts! :) Chris From sgruby at markspace.com Fri Jun 13 00:29:38 2003 From: sgruby at markspace.com (Scott Gruby) Date: Fri May 6 12:01:57 2005 Subject: [Mail-PalmOS-Talk] [ANN] Mark/Space Mail 1.1b4 Posted In-Reply-To: <200361301017.606797@vaiof> Message-ID: <682A97BE-9D68-11D7-9362-000393A57B52@markspace.com> On Thursday, June 12, 2003, at 09:10 PM, Chris Holt wrote: > On Thu, 12 Jun 2003 16:53:56 -0700, Scott Gruby wrote: >> Mark/Space Mail 1.1b4 has been posted to our website. This will be fixed in the next beta. We really need people to report the issues; while we may not be able to fix them as soon as you'd like, we definitely can't fix them if they're not reported. While we use Mark/Space Mail extensively ourselves, we each only use the program in one way and therefore only exercise one path. We investigate every defect and do our best to fix them as best we can. Thanks. -- Scott Gruby Please contact support@markspace.com for assistance with Mark/Space products. This will be fixed in the next beta. Um, no. I either hadn't experienced it before, or hadn't noticed. Things get quite complicated when you view Read or Unread only.
