After thinking about this more: 1) When you said you removed everything relating to MS Mail, how did you do this? 2) Did you use the Launcher to delete MS Mail? 3) What other applications do you have on your device? 4) What happens if you completely remove it and reinstall? I think, as you mentioned in another part of your response, that for some reason the Treo 600 did not recognize that the card was in the slot - even though it was. I removed the card and re-inserted it and I started to see the Save option! (BTW - is there some other way to jog the Treo to recognize a card - it seems that sometimes it forgets that the card is there?) This brings me to another question: With some attachments, I'm given the option of using a particular program to open the attachment and for others I'm not. Is there a way to associate a program with a "file type" so that I can open the attachment? Do you know of any programs that might use Exchange Manager and deal with text files. Or, is there a way in "Documents to Go" to set the kind of file that it will open? Of course, with an SD card, I can save the file and then use some program to open it. This is an ok workaround, but not as elegant as opening the document right from mail... If the filename ends in .txt, then I believe that Memo Pad will open it. M/S Mail is dependent on what the other programs do and if they don't register for that file type (either based on a MIME type or a file extension), we don't know that they can open the attachment. Most programs don't let you change what types they can handle. > Of course, with an SD card, I can save the file and then use some > program to open it. Maybe when you're installing it, an old Mail database is being created. The 2 databases that are of importance for this issue are MSML-MailDB and MSML-MessageDB. The crash is probably caused by references in MSML-MailDB that are not correct; MSML-MailDB contains references to records in MSML-MessageDB; if the records aren't referenced correctly, you'd see a crash for both delete and viewing of incoming messages. M/S Mail 1.x didn't do this as all the messages were stored in MSML-MailDB which limited each message to 64KB; M/S Mail 2.x doesn't have this limitation. As I wrote in my last message: "Have you tried disabling any/all of these to see what happens? The only ones I'm familiar with are McPhling and Crash; both work fine on my UX50. Can you send me all your MSML* databases (zip them) and your Saved Preferences.pdb and send them to mail-beta-feedback@markspace.com? (Sending your backup folder might be better as it would let me reproduce your setup more closely. Also, what "hacks" do you have installed with TealMaster?) I realize that disabling/removing some/all of the apps is a royal pain, but it's really hard for me to troubleshoot with lots of unknowns. You're the only person that I've heard of having this problem; based on your huge list of applications (I think that is the most apps I've ever seen on a device), I have to say that I'm quite impressed that your device continues to run smoothly (except for this little problem)! Personally I'm running M/S Mail on both a UX50 and a TapWave Zodiac all the time without problems. Once I receive your databases, I go hopefully reproduce the issue and have a fix for the next version. This brings me to another question: With some attachments, I'm given the option of using a particular program to open the attachment and for others I'm not. I think, as you mentioned in another part of your response, that for some reason the Treo 600 did not recognize that the card was in the slot - even though it was. I removed the card and re-inserted it and I started to see the Save option! The only ones I'm familiar with are McPhling and Crash; both work fine on my UX50. Can you send me all your MSML* databases (zip them) and your Saved Preferences.pdb and send them to mail-beta-feedback@markspace.com? I'll take a look and see if I can reproduce the problem with your data. If you want to zip up your entire backup folder and send that, that's fine, also. Many unavoidable circumstances have come up. Below are the answers to your questions you wrote earlier (see bottom of e-mail): 1 & 2) I did remove all of MS Mail using Botzam Explorer, Filez, PowerRun, McFile, and the main Palm delete program (through Palm?s main launcher). Everything was deleted but one MarkSpace Mail file (less than 1K in size) spotted by both Filez and McFile. None of the other programs are even seeing it. I used Uninstall Manager to see if it spotted any leftovers this seemed to work on the last file. 3) The following applications are on my Tungsten C (long list). Are there any messages? Can you create a new outgoing message and then view it? I know that one of our support people is using a Tungsten C and hasn't reported an issue. My strong suspicion is that you didn't completely remove the old version. The database format changed and if you still had portions of the old one lying around, it could cause this type of problem. I'll take a look and see if I can reproduce the problem with your data. If you want to zip up your entire backup folder and send that, that's fine, also.
