Hey all

This coming Friday, July 16, is the opening day of the Splashdown 2004
event to be held on the aircraft carrier, USS Hornet. This event
celebrates the 35th anniversary of the Apollo 11 & Apollo 12 moon
missions. LUNAR has been asked to man a display table during the 9 days
of the event, Friday, July 16 through Sunday, July 29. Participation in
this display is open to all model rocketeers, not just LUNAR members.
That is why I am posting this to the three major rocketry eMail lists in
the Bay Area. I am serving as rocket display coordinator for this event.
As such, I am in need of volunteers to man the display tables and talk
about one of your favorite activities, building and flying model and
high power rockets. Volunteers get free admission to the event. Check
out the calendar. There is lots of neat stuff going on every day.
Volunteer for several days and see it all. I am allowed 4 workers per
day. We only need one or two people in the both at a time...:)

LUNAR will be setting up a projector or lap top to show a DVD during the
show. I may be looking for a projector to borrow. We will also have
launch pads available to display rockets with. Did I mention that you
can bring your own rockets to use as displays?? And talk about them...:)
Rockets, motor casings, electronics, electronics bays, print outs,
pictures, videos or anything else that gets you excited (except
propellant) is welcome. Display items that can be used for the duration
of the show are also welcome. A couple of people mentioned large
projects that we might use for the show. Please contact me to confirm.
We also have a bunch of giveaway stuff (flyers, stickers). I will gladly
accept offers of more giveaway stuff. Contact me.

A number of Bay Area rocketeers have already volunteered to help. More
are needed!! To those that have already volunteers, Thank You. Please
eMail me with days that you are available. The show is open 10am to 5pm
every day. But it isn't necessary for you to be there all day. Work what
ever you are comfortable with. But I'll tell you what. The Hornet is a
cool ship and this is going to be a great event. You will likely want to
spend some time there. For those that haven't volunteered yet, now is a
great time to do it.

needed. Remember, Splashdown 2004 runs for 9 days.
