[BA-Rockets] Launch sites in the Bay Area

Has anyone tried Mountain View High School? They have a large field, but it's been recently redone so they may be more protective of it. I think the City controls it (they control most of the school fields in Mtn Vw). I know the City of Mtn Vw will allow launches at appropriate locations if arranged properly (at least they do for Boy Scouts who have connections in the police department!). Just wondering if anyone has checked this possibility.

Keep looking. This search isn't just for the BayNAR organizers. Any of
us with an idea or contacts in good places need to help by bringing those
  forward.

All the obvious places like junior college campuses have been tried.

Perhaps if anyone has contacts with a school district that has a field
large enough, you could talk with your contacts about it with them.

Also, I think all the cities in the area have rules agianst launching
model rockets in their municipal parks. I know San Jose does. Under
the current rules, we can't consider any of them.

But if we can select some good locations, maybe we can lobby one or more
cities to designate one or more specific parks as allowing rocket launches,
even if just at organized launch events under NAR safety rules. (Actually,
I think specifically referring to NAR safety rules would be key to getting
support for this.) It would help to enlist the assistance of a city
council member in any city in the South Bay for that, if anyone knows one.

Perhaps we might start making a "wish list" of parks in the area to have
ready when the time comes that we convince a local politician to help.
"Yes, we have a wish list and some of your city's parks are on it."
