Message-ID: <0F93B844-8691-11D7-A9C5-00306546CE7A@pacbell.net> We had a terrific April launch, with just a little high overcast and tiny bit of breeze. Thanks to all who helped out, especially Cliff Sojourner, who hauled the trailer, and Norm Newlon, who manufactured new clip leads for the racks. Greg Wong's nephew won the a Flat Cat boost glider in our volunteer raffle, and now has to actually build it! *Attention* We are in need of a volunteer for trailer hauling this month! If you have a hitch and can pull our equipment trailer to the launch and return it afterward, please e-mail to Board@BayNar.org We really need help on this, so please consider pitching in! Big Bertha contest - extended to July, in order to let everyone who wants to a chance to enter. (D&J only has so many Big Berthas, ya know!): Build a Big Bertha, either stock, or modified, (or both, if you want!) and fly it for parachute duration with a B motor. The longest in the air on an Estes B4 or B6 motor is the winner. Modified versions must use all the original parts (they must be present, but can be modified). We will judge stock versions and mods separately, so you can build and enter for both. Rockets may be painted or not, but I believe there should be awards for painting and finishing. Suggestions for judging categories, appropriate prizes, other fun are heartily encouraged. In considering the responses we have received on this so far, I point out the following rules, which have been made up as we go along: Rockets that land in trees still count, but your time stops when the rocket stops falling. Modified Big Berthas are just that: body tube, nose cone, fins and all other parts from a Big Bertha are used (modified however you want), with the exception of the chute and shock cord, which you are free to invent. Judges rulings are final, all rights reserved, e pluribus unum, not responsible, park and lock it. April Launchs: 2 - 1/4 A 41 - 1/2 A 55 - A 56 - B 37 - C 9 - D 1 - E 199 launches 995 Newton-Seconds - Equivalent of a J motor. The counts for March's launch are below, and we may have made a record number of flights! 42 - 1/2 A 67 - A 51 - B 44 - C 14 - D 2 - F 220 launches 1269 Newton-Seconds - Might be a K motor.
