In-Reply-To: Message-ID: <20030620204645.44105.qmail@web40011.mail.yahoo.com> When you come out to launch this Sunday you will see some dramatic changes in the DeAnza parking lots. Lot A has been torn up and is being re-striped to cram more parking spaces into the available area. Starting the second week of July they will do the same to Lot B - the place where we launch. This seems to be the end of our stay at DeAnza, at least for the summer. We cannot launch at DeAnza without using Lot B, and the construction that will follow Lot B being re-opened in the Fall will mean that it will be difficult for us to get the lot held free of cars. The immediate impact is this - We can't launch rockets over 1 pound, or multi-stage rockets at this weekend's launch, as they will likely recover in a construction area. This means that motor size is limited to D size maximum. The second most immediate impact is that we may not have obtained an alternative site in time for launching in July. The launch site requires us to have insurance certificates issued, and unless the approvals come through within the next week, it is unlikely that we will be able to get them in time for the launch. Alternative sites: We are looking at three places, all near to each other and to Sunnyvale. The sites are Lockheed-Martin, NASA Ames, and Moffet Field. In all cases we are still working to get ourselves to the people who can say "Yes". I will continue to update everyone as we work these issues to get a site secured. I thought we'd be out of there (either voluntarily or by eviction) long before now. This is the absolutely worst fun thing to have to do with a rocket club.
