We started out rainy but ended up launching quite a bit anyway! Much
thanks to Norm for handling duties as launch coordinator, and to others
who jumped in to help out! Special thanks to Carl R, who has continued
to let us borrow his trailer, as well as hauling it in to the launch
this month.
NEWS -
April, May and June launches have been set, all on the fourth Sunday of
each month. (This puts May's launch square into the middle of Memorial
Day weekend, but there is no alternate date where we can get the lot.)
Thanks to Lou Dick's efforts our NAR chapter paperwork has been filed,
and we will get everything back from them for the new year's liability
insurance within a few days.
Plans for DeAnza construction now look like this: Construction of the
bus terminal in B lot is postponed indefinitely. (VTA has no money to
build it.) On the other hand, Lot C construction is now slated to start
in October. Once that happens, we may have to reconsider the size of
rocket we can launch. When it happens is the real question. All this
construction was supposed to have started by LAST October, but it keeps
getting postponed. As long as they keep postponing, we can still fly
our E and F motors...
No news right now on securing the Lockheed site for launches, but it is
still in the works!
I would like to propose that we hold a contest at the June launch. We
could pick a kit for everyone to build, either stock or modified, and we
could do a contest launch like duration or drag race. If you have
suggestions of what we should do, send them in to Marty at BayNar.org , as
I would like pick something that appeals to lots of people!
The April launch is going to be on the 27th, and we can use volunteer
help, as always! If you can haul the trailer, please let me know, as it
is important to get that planned in advance.
